A Harvard article propounds that memories, smells, and emotions are intertwined in our minds. Even after twenty-two years, I smell back it to existence whenever I think about that old and tattered book that taught me so much about the mind when I was a teenager.
‘Meditation, Contemplation, and Concentration‘ was my first sneak peek into the world of meditation. Inspired by this book, I started meditating at 13 and experienced instant and profound benefits. But shortly after a year or so I got too bored completely stopped meditating.
After about 15 years, I tried to pursue meditation again in 2023. I had completely lost the ‘muscle memory’ of my mind to be still for five minutes. But with some trying, it came back and now as of July 2024, I find it easy to meditate for 45 minutes. A few times I could do that for an hour, and a couple of times for two hours at a stretch as well.
Someone once told me, that all the wisdom that is encapsulated in our ancient texts is the result of people meditating for extended hours and writing down their realisations. And I thought to myself, I would love to scratch the surface of this fascinating world of mind expansion.
