It is said that it is wise to try to be detached from the outcomes of your actions.
Does it mean, that when we start something new, we should not hope for the best and rather just focus on the moment, doing the work?
When life entangles us in a string of painful, dark, and punishing experiences, hope can start to feel like a contract that guarantees disappointment, and even an illusion.
So, is it better to never expect anything to go your way and keep moving stoically, facing what life brings, moment by moment?
After all no one promised us a good life.
And yet, despite all this, I still believe hope is a good thing.
Not because it guarantees happiness, but because it keeps us moving when nothing seems to go right.
Hope becomes the invisible friend that caresses our soul when we’re staring into an abyss. Not denying it, just being with us.
As Andy Dufresne said:
“Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”
