India
India gave birth to one of the most profound, liberating, and subtle spiritual concepts we know of, but itself got entangled in religious fanaticism; one of the cruelest twists the arrow of time forced upon any nation.
Our obsessive focus on identities of religion, caste, and language spawns a false sense of superiority, which in turn leads to lack of civic sense, disregard for safety, and lack of trust in society. Patriarchy, casteism, and a status-driven mindset are among the most unfortunate manifestations of this identity obsession.
Capitalism
Capitalism is evil, but the only economic system that has known to work. It’s the reason we live comfortably, but a singular focus on profits is also the reason we’re make the planet inhabitable. The most dangerous outcome of capitalism is the concentration of decision making power in the hands of a few.
Happiness
I’ve never seen material opulence, but my hypothesis is that it does not make us happier. Yet, I desire to earn substantial wealth. I largely want it to feel safe and buy myself time and freedom to do things that I want to do and satisfy my curiosity. Explore the world, pursue spirituality, and travel. These pursuits make me feel peace, not necessarily happiness.
